Sunny days are here again. Amazing how everything begins to glisten as soon as the sun comes out. The same trees, the same flowers, the same people, but with that extra sheen that only a beautiful bright day can bring. Strange again, that when I was in India, I longed for the cooler winter months . Although in our parts, we never had severe heat waves, I usually preferred the winter which was relatively cooler ( again never the extreme cold) to the humid summers…not the sun shining down in all it’s fury but with that gentle look that spreads a light blanket of warmth all around. No wonder I love the English summer…sunny but not too hot with a gentle breeze that tingles the senses…
So much for the weather…I do seem to ramble a lot about it…now for the cooking bit. I made these rolls nearly a month ago during the Easter holidays and forgot all about them. It was one of those things that I made in a jiffy and was all gone in the blink of an eye. The kids absolutely adored them and so did their mom and dad. The rolls had a slight crunch to it and the light chocolate filling added the extra zing.
This is how I went about it…
What’s needed-
25 gms short crust pastry
small bowl of melted plain chocolate
What’s needed to be done is-
Pre heat the oven at 180 deg cel.
Roll the pastry into a long rectangular shape.
Spread the melted chocolate in a thin layer, leaving a border of about 1/2 cm on all sides.
From the longer end, roll up the pastry until it is one slim, long roll. Continue rolling between the hands until all the layers within come together.
Cut the roll into thin slices.
Place the slices, cut side up and bake in the pre- heated oven till golden brown.
The whole process of preparation, apart from the baking time takes hardly 10 minutes and the outcome is quite good. Great one for parties I must say, where a whole heap can be made for the guests to nibble on. Saying this, these ones are being sent to Meeta for her Big Birthday Bang.
